Creating realistically maintainable spaces for homes and small businesses
Creating realistically maintainable spaces for homes and small businesses
Hi! I'm Kate, proud mum and professional organiser based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. I have always had a passion for creating life-enhancing spaces, and believe in the importance of making the best use of the space that you are in.
I decided to set up 'Organised by Kate' after realising just how many people wanted to make changes to their space but just didn't know where to start, and often simply did not have the time! I, therefore, set out to create an organising and decluttering business that would support clients; both at home and in the workplace, to create realistically maintainable, organised spaces that would work better for them and their lifestyle.
I believe that the negative impact of mess and clutter, in our already busy lives, can be easily resolved with effective support and efficient storage solutions. My belief is that a space does not necessarily have to be extreme or minimalist in order to be organised; there is a balance to be found.
I understand how important your space is to you and how personal that is. That is why, whether in your home or your workspace, I work sympathetically and respectfully to ensure that the end result is a space that works for you.
I offer a bespoke range of organising and decluttering services to suit your individual needs.

Every project is bespoke, therefore, each organising and decluttering project I am involved in is different. Projects are tailored to suit you; the client, and your individual likes and needs, ensuring that the end result is a space that works for you.
During the consultation process, we will establish your requirements for the space. This will help with determining how best to organise the space later on in the process. The evaluation stage gives you an opportunity to decide exactly what you need from the room, and how it would best fit in with your lifestyle.
The sorting and decluttering process is an essential part of the process that I carry out alongside the client. Decluttering your items means that you only keep the items that you truly want and need, creating more space for those things that mean most, and ensuring that the space is much easier to maintain once the project is complete.
I fully understand that, for many different reasons, this can be a very difficult part of the process for some, but the supportive and sympathetic approach that I take will put you at ease. This is one of the reasons why I felt it important to offer a free, no-obligation consultation; to give you the opportunity to get to know me, and feel comfortable with me in your home before the project begins.
I am very environmentally conscious, so the three categories used for sorting items; keep, donate and recycle, are designed to ensure the minimum of waste and environmental impact.
Once we have sorted all of the items and have decided what to keep, I will then be able to categorise what remains. This is another crucial step in ensuring that the space is easy to maintain after the project is complete.
Once I have categorised the items, and depending on the client's specific requirements, I will use new and existing storage solutions to organise the space. Each category is allocated a suitable space, keeping everything neat, tidy and easy to maintain!
Pantry, fridge, cutlery, utensils, crockery, under-sink storage
Dressers, sideboards, drawers, linen storage
Bookcases, dressers, cupboards, consoles, toy and gaming storage
Toiletries, makeup, linen, extra bathroom supplies
Laundry, cleaning supplies, equipment
Desk organisation, keepsakes, paperwork storage, filing systems
Toy storage, study areas, arts and crafts areas, keepsake storage, clothing organisation (including seasonal and hand-me-down storage)
Clothing organisation (including seasonal storage), dressing tables, linen storage, guest room or hobby room creation

Moving home can be a very stressful time. Hiring a professional organiser to take some of that stress away can be invaluable at such a busy time. I offer the following services to support you in your transition into your new home. These services can be booked both individually, or as a complete home move package.
There are many life circumstances that can lead to a need to downsize. Whatever the reason, I offer a friendly and supportive service and can help you with the entire process, or just a particular element of the process that you most need support with.
Ensuring that you only pack the things you really want and need in your new home. Decluttering can sometimes be an emotional and difficult process, so I always approach decluttering with sympathy and respect. The process itself is carried out alongside the client in a supportive and caring manner.
By categorising first, the packing process I use ensures a smooth transition into your new home. Once you have your keys, you are able to start enjoying your new space. Using this service makes the unpacking process so much quicker.
I am also able to offer an unpacking service, supporting you in settling into your new home as soon as possible. Using a categorised system, every item is allocated to a suitable space, keeping everything neat, tidy and easy to maintain.
Creating effective desk workflow systems, I am able to create a workspace that will assist with workflow, enhance efficiency and therefore improve your productivity significantly.
Effective paperwork systems are essential for an organised workflow. I am able to create paperwork filing systems, and can even offer flexible maintenance support to anyone requiring occasional organisational and administrative support, eliminating the need to recruit additional support staff.
As with paperwork filing systems, I am able to offer a one-off support package to implement digital filing systems, but am also able to offer flexible maintenance support for those who do not require permanent support staff, but who need just occasional support.
No matter what industry you are working in, keeping any work equipment organised will help with your daily workflow and improve productivity. Effective storage systems can help with keeping all equipment organised and ready to use.
Effective stock management minimises stress and creates a more productive work environment. I can offer organisational support to implement more effective storage solutions but also offer flexible maintenance support as required.

Sometimes we are too overwhelmed, or just too busy to tackle an organising project ourselves. We might find that our space simply isn't working well for us, and the mess and clutter is becoming overwhelming, but we just don't know where to start or simply don't have the time to spare. That is when a Professional Organiser can help.
Mess and clutter can negatively impact our lives both physically and mentally. Hiring a professional organiser not only saves precious time, but it reduces the constant stress and frustration caused by inefficient spaces. It enables you to reach the end goal of living the life you want, in a space that works for you, but in a supported and understanding way.
Each project is unique, and that is the reason why I offer such a bespoke service. Yes, sorting and decluttering is an essential part of organising a space, therefore donating or recycling some items will be necessary, but how much will very much depend on your individual circumstances and your personal goal for the project.
The decluttering process is completed alongside you, and I will never force you to get rid of anything that you don't want to. I offer a very sympathetic and supportive service and, as soon as you meet me, I'm sure you will feel more at ease about the process. I believe in the importance of living in spaces that work for you, but I do not believe you have to be extreme or minimalist in order to be organised.
I am happy to support you with any size project, from organising and decluttering just one cupboard to supporting an entire house move! The service I offer is both flexible and bespoke.
Definitely not! The whole point of hiring a professional organiser is to get help with getting organised, so don't worry about being judged! Leaving the space exactly as it normally is gives me the best understanding of the space, what works and what doesn't, and how you would ideally want it to be.
I offer a friendly, non-judgmental service and pride myself on my supportive and understanding nature. I am very aware that I am coming into your home or workplace; I want you to feel as comfortable as possible with that. I offer a free, no-obligation consultation to help with this; to allow you to get to know me whilst we establish your project requirements.
At present, I offer an hourly rate which can be found on my price list page. However, as this is a bespoke service, I am more than happy to discuss your requirements and am able to offer quotations based on package options.
One of the most important elements of the way I organise, is that I understand the importance of creating realistically maintainable spaces.
Each project is entirely bespoke, so I will create an organised space that works for you and your lifestyle. After decluttering and categorising, I will organise your items using effective storage systems that suit your personal needs. I will create an organised space that is, most importantly, easy to maintain after the project is complete.
Should you, however, prefer occasional support with maintenance of the project, that is a service that I am also able to offer. With busy lifestyles, some clients simply prefer me to occasionally support them with maintenance, just to make life that little bit easier!
The only stage when I ask for you to ideally be present is during the sorting and decluttering stage. Your belongings are personal to you, and so it is important that you are involved in editing those belongings and deciding what is special to you, what you truly need and what you really want to keep.
"Decluttering and organising was filling me with dread. Emotionally and physically it felt so overwhelming and I couldn’t have done it without Kate. She understood completely how hard the process was and she had the perfect balance of compassion and proactive encouragement to part with things that no longer had a place in my home.
Regularly checking in that I was finding the process ok, Kate really acknowledged the emotions attached to items and how powerful memories from sentimental items can be.
Kate took time to see how I live and how I want my space to work for me. She didn’t come in with her own agenda but really listened to what I needed and worked with me to formulate a plan to make that happen.
She took great care with all my belongings and I felt completely at ease throughout. She really made all the difference and I’m really glad I have her on side for the rest of my decluttering and organising projects in the future.
Kate really understands what an organised space can do for someone’s mental health and how much of a positive impact that can make. I’m very glad I found her!"

"I have a 1 yr old and an 11 yr old sharing a room with a Kallax unit as a divider. It was chaos and very overwhelming. I saw Kate's ad on Facebook and she sounded just what I needed.
Kate came over and immediately I felt comfortable. She's very friendly and polite, nothing phased her, even the state of my daughters room!
Kate had great storage solution ideas and we spoke about different options. She worked to my budget and I never felt pressured in any way to increase the budget, but Kate is realistic as to what she can achieve within the budget/time frame.
She kept in touch leading up to to the day, making sure we were both on the same page and provided me with an Ikea shopping list for the bits she recommended.
On the day Kate was on time and got straight to it, she didn't need much input from me except to know whether certain things were staying or going.
My daughters room was transformed into an organised, clean and welcoming space that gave her space to do homework, art, reading, makeup etc. Everything is clearly labelled and accessible. It's a lot easier to keep a room tidy when there is a clear space for everything!
I can't thank Kate enough for working tirelessly throughout the day to get it all done. I now need her back to do all the other rooms in my house!"
